Research Interests

My work examines how people perceive and interact with artificial agents, focusing on attributions of intentionality and moral character.

I am currently interested in questions such as:

  • How do action consequences influence intentionality attribution?

  • How do emotional responses shape moral character impressions?

  • Does science fiction narratives influence mental state inferences?

  • How do people update their moral impressions over time?

I am particularly interested in how these processes impact real-world decisions and behavior, such as:

  • How do our impressions of artificial agents influence decision-making in law and policy?

  • Do science fiction narratives influence capacity estimation of real-world artificial agents?

  • Does exposure to artificial agents in childhood influence social cognitive development?
